hey there!

I’M CARLA

CERAMIC ARTIST, WIFE and MOTHER

Hey friends, so glad you’re here! My name is Carla and I have been a professional potter since 2013. I started making pottery around 1995, when I was pursuing my Arts Education degree at the University of Regina. After graduating I became a teacher in the Prairie Valley School Division where I taught full time for 11 years.

The early days of my teaching career did not leave much time for a pottery hobby and I ended up not sitting at a wheel for several years. I then had an amazing opportunity to acquire my own wheel and jumped at the chance. Once I was able to work at home on my own wheel I was able to get back to throwing in my spare time.

I didn’t get really serious about ceramics until I decided to leave my position at PVSD and open my own art school. I had been teaching ceramics to kids for years but this was my chance to share my love of clay with anyone of any age!

The same year I opened Cathedral Art School, I also began selling my work. I have been selling at markets, shows and online for the past 10 years.

MY GOAL

I want to create ceramic pieces that function well in everyday life. Pieces that work well for their intended purpose, but also look great in your space.

Pottery is my passion and I want to share that passion and joy with as many people as possible.

I want to create fun and functional pieces to add some joy to the everyday, whether its funky designs or pops of colour.

Pieces that look good and feel good, too!

BEHIND EVERY GREAT PIECE OF ART

is a thousand failed attempts

A beige background with no distinguishable objects or features.
Stack of white ceramic plates, a rustic wooden spoon, a white ceramic pitcher, and a rolled napkin with black stripes on a beige textured tablecloth.

stoneware

Stacked white speckled ceramic plates with beige cotton stems on top, placed on a beige textured fabric with rose gold flatware nearby.

earthenware

porcelain

All my work is created from Canadian sourced earthenware/stoneware and porcelain.

All my glazes are lead free, dinnerware safe, food safe glazes fired to cone 6.

This makes them functional as well as durable.
